"America is a different land, for me exceptional in all the ways that matter. In recent days, those vast Obama crowds, though, have recalled for me the politics of charisma that wrecked Arab and Muslim societies. A leader does not have to say much, or be much. The crowd is left to its most powerful possession -- its imagination."

What utter racist filth. The "politics of charisma" haven't wrought half so much havoc in the Middle East as European imperialism has. It's a sign of the intellectual collapse of the right in this country that the WSJ is printing this kind of nonsense.
On a side note, it's truly preposterous to claim the affluent whites are a central part of Obama's campaign. Every major union in the country has gone gangbusters knocking on doors for Obama, and the same goes for the immigrant rights movement. Unless "affluent white liberals" refers to the heads of companies like Goldman Sachs, the statement is just plain bizarre.
